The suicide of the West continues. One thing common to so many of the suicide notes, i.e. the pathologically altruistic behavior of Europe’s citizens and leaders, is this: they compare the refugees’ situation to that of Jews fleeing persecution in Hitler’s Germany. Here we go! Everything is Hitler’s fault, even still. This fluffy, white blanket of guilt has been stretched to the ripping point, however, and the careful observer can see through it. What do we see? Nothing. There is nothing there. The comparisons are faulty and feeble. Still, most will lap up the white guilt. Never forget! They scream.
Cecilia Wikström, a member of the European Parliament for the center-right Liberal Party, has pushed the Holocaust on her fellow Swedes as a point of ridiculous reference regarding migrants. She complains that Europe as a whole is not doing enough to help refugees arrive safely and that (oh the horror!) future generations may compare their inactivity to Europe’s ignoring the Holocaust. She said,
“I think that my children and grandchildren are going to ask why more wasn’t done to help people running away from Isis, or violence in Eritrea or wherever, when we knew that people were dying in their thousands. People will ask the same question they did after the war,‘if you were aware, why didn’t you do something?’. In Sweden we allowed our railroads to be used to transfer Jews to Nazi death camps.”
Cecilia, your children and grandchildren may never see the light of the day. If they do, they will likely be a persecuted minority or they will be Muslims of mixed heritage. They will not ask you why you did not help the downtrodden refugee, but they may well ask why their grandparents were so foolish, naive, and suicidally altruistic as to allow their own kith and kin to be displaced in their own hereditary lands. Cecilia, if your granddaughter is forced into a burka and married the second she reaches puberty, if not before, she may ask why you betrayed her. Cecilia, what will you say to that little girl when Sweden is no longer Swedish?
As refugees pour into Europe to the tune of thousands every day, politicians like Cecilia forever complain that not enough is being done to help them. Cecilia does talk a lot. She gave “inspiring speeches” at a recent European Jewish Congress in Brussels.
She also led panel discussions at a conference on anti-Semitism where she acted as Vice-Chair of the Working Group on Anti-Semitism.
Cecilia is knee-deep in just about every bleeding-heart liberal issue one can imagine, and she is, of course, good friends with the proverbial persecuted Jew. What does the Jew say about Cecilia’s precious Muslim refugees? Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu said he wants a stronger fence and a bigger wall to keep them out. More precisely he said,
“We are preparing a multiyear project to encircle Israel with a security fence, to defend ourselves in the Middle East as it is now, and as it is expected to be. They will say to me, what do you want to do, protect the mansion? And the answer is, ‘Yes.’ What, we will encircle the whole country with a fence and obstacles? The answer is an unequivocal, ‘Yes,’” he said. “In the neighborhood in which we live we need to protect ourselves against beasts.”
Beasts. Cecilia, are you inviting beasts to live atop your grandchildren? If so, they will not have the luxury to kvetch all day about the Holocaust like you do.
