Domestic Terrorism: Right Smack in Your Living Room

When the government and its hired hands are the terrorists.

The nation has been somewhat distant when it came to terrorism around the world. But, now it has come to settle in our backyard. We dare not stay complacent. In fiscal year 2014 there were 326 deaths from “ Domestic Terrorism” (Source: U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services).

“From whence shall we expect the approach of danger? Shall some trans-Atlantic military giant step the earth and crush us at a blow? Never. All the armies of Europe and Asia…could not by force take a drink from the Ohio River or make a track on the Blue Ridge in the trial of a thousand years. No, if destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men we will live forever or die by suicide.” — Abraham Lincoln

Let me stop and reframe the situation so that it is better understood.

The United States Department of Justice “condones” Domestic Terrorism by its silence and inaction. The abuse of women and children that occurs when Child Protective Services takes innocent children from innocent mothers is truly Domestic Terrorism.

To enter a person’s home without a warrant, threaten them with arrest if they do not comply, hand the mother a piece of paper, physically pick up that child, and leave without another word, certainly would be “terrorism” in every country in the world, except in the United States.

Ask anyone that has been involved with Child Protective Services and they will absolutely tell you they were terrified and terrorized by the event and the years and years of subsequent terrorism.

Clearly, there are circumstances of child abuse and neglect that require and demand the removal of that child from that environment. No one can honestly argue that any child in imminent danger requires removal. What multiplies the event to the level of “ Domestic Terrorism” however, is when innocent children are taken from innocent families for illegitimate purposes.

The state of Arizona has more than 17,000 children in state custody, which is more children percentage wise than California, Texas, and New York combined. Arizona is the cutting edge for exposing the level of “Domestic Terrorism” and it is the starting point if the United States Department of Justice would only take the initiative to do the right thing.

If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality. — Desmond Tutu

Back to my original premise: The United States Department of Justice ‘condones’ Domestic Terrorism. Therefore, we must include the following in condoning Domestic Terrorism:

•Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as they remain silent even though these activities cross state-lines and involve federal funding,
•U.S. Department of Health & Human Services as they remain silent even though these activities involve federal Medicaid funds,
•United States Congress as they remain silent even though they created the laws that make this Domestic Terrorism possible,
•President Donald J. Trump as he remains silent even though he was recently elected to “Make America Great Again”.

There is nothing great about Domestic Terrorism.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. — Edmund Burke
